Why is the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba encouraging donors to leave 100% of their estate to their heirs!?
Because we believe that donors are ready to hear about a unique strategy for leaving a legacy gift to charity without negatively impacting heirs or beneficiaries.
The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba encourages planned gifts. A planned gift is a charitable gift that is the result of tax and or estate planning. It is a gesture that must be inspired, considered and developed. Many donors may find it easy to decide to whom to give, they know why to give, they have an idea when to give, but all too often, they do not know HOW to give. What are the options? How can they maximize their gift and still leave a legacy to their heirs? How can they achieve their `philanthropic dream’?
To help answer those questions, the Foundation has invited Alain Lévesque, President of DeVimy Group in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Alain is a specialist in gift planning. He is also an ambassador of philanthropy. As a dynamic, charismatic speaker, he is known for his methodical thinking and the ease with which he clearly and efficiently explains planned giving options.
“Whatever the motivation that brings you to make a gift, the optimization of personal, financial and philanthropic results passes through a good planning process,” says Alain. “It’s what makes the difference between a planned gift and a WELL planned gift.”
Israel Asper once addressed a group of professional advisors by saying, “When you encourage your clients to do something in philanthropic terms you are doing them the biggest favour you could, because you are helping them to make a difference.” Alain wholeheartedly agrees, and one of his two sessions will specifically be directed at professional advisors. Alain’s research has shown that the majority of professionals do not discuss the possibility of making a planned gift with their clients. The primary reason is that they do not feel that they understand the options and the concepts well enough.
So why is the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba encouraging donors to leave 100% of their estate to their heirs? Because, given the right tools, they can leave an additional 25% to their community!
