We're excited to welcome Kris Widla to the JFM as our new Accounting Analyst. Originally from Krakow, Poland, Kris moved here nearly 40 years ago, shortly after finishing eighth grade.
Since coming to Canada, most of his time has been spent in Winnipeg. However, he also got to experience the Canadian north, spending three years living and working in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut.
Numbers have always been second nature to Kris, and though he initially considered following his father's footsteps into engineering, accounting ended up as his calling.
"As you can imagine, my strengths are with numbers," he jokes. "I've even placed as high as 40th in Manitoba in national math competitions."
Before joining the Foundation, Kris worked with non-profit organizations, most notably at Macdonald Youth Services. Giving back has always been important to him—he has volunteered with the Health Sciences Centre and the Pan Am Games and helped to support Ukrainian immigrants settling in Canada.
We're thrilled to have him on board and look forward to working with him!
