Judaic Studies & Cultural Programming Grants


Judaic Studies & Cultural Programming Grants are awarded once a year. The deadlines for applications is January 1. Applications are accepted for one month prior.

These types of grants are only available to registered charities in Manitoba. They must fund projects within Manitoba. 

  • Only qualified donees* in Manitoba are eligible for grants from the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba;
  • Projects must benefit the Jewish community in Manitoba;
  • Grants will be provided for existing Judaic Educational projects and Jewish Cultural programs, including projects and programs focused on Yiddish language and culture, and/or one-time stand-alone programs and projects;
  • Grants will also be provided for pilot projects providing the organization provide a plan for future funding beyond the pilot stage;
  • Grants for ongoing programs must be completed before the organization can apply for the same program again;
  • Applicants must demonstrate that the grant will be used for Judaic Studies and/or Jewish Cultural Programming purposes, including projects and programs focused on Yiddish language and culture.

Preference is given to projects that:

  • Enhance Jewish continuity and deepen Jewish identity;
  • Demonstrate a need and clearly benefits for the Jewish community of Manitoba;
  • Provide for opportunities for members of the Jewish community of Manitoba to benefit either locally, nationally or internationally;
  • Demonstrate a source of ongoing funding if project is to be continued;
  • Are undertaken collaboratively between two or more organizations;
  • Encourage more efficient use of community resources;
  • Promote volunteer participation and citizen involvement;
  • Market the Jewish community in a positive light to the community at large.

Grants are not made for:

  • Costs occurring prior to notification of grant approval;
  • Fund-raising appeals such as memberships and sponsorships;
  • Ongoing operations of an organization; including salaries & administrative costs.
